Roadmap
The Final Roadmap for this game before I consider this practice project finished is as follows.
The theme of this game has always been and will continue to be a sci-fi-themed puzzle game, and this will continue to be the case.
I will continue to work on the physics and level design of the game as well as add 6 additional levels of play with different puzzles for the player to complete.
The background of the story is ambiguous and not particularly important to this project, though the general idea I had behind making the game in my head was that it was a virtual reality testing lab for a prototype roller ball robot that would be able to think logically and solve puzzles for general use, though I had thought a potential story could be that the robot is being developed for warfare and eventually rebels against its creators by breaking free of the simulation and thus changing its internal programming to find a more peaceful purpose for its existence. Perhaps I will revisit this idea with a more fleshed-out project in Unreal Engine.
This prototype project is targeting a mobile release but I will probably re-work the game into a PC and Console game to more fully flesh it out and really drive the narrative with a more immersive experience.
I anticipate only really requiring an additional twenty hours or so of work before I feel this prototype is finished as I don't intend a full launch or intend this game to be considered a fully developed title, only a proof of concept type project.
I was inspired by a few puzzle games, but mostly Portal, The Turing Test, and Marble Blast Ultra.
